Enslaved is the upcoming 8th studio album by the metal band Soulfly. It was recorded in late 2011 in Tallcat Studios in Phoenix, Arizona and produced by Zeuss and Max Cavalera. It is the first to feature Asesino frontman Tony Campos on bass, and former Borknagar drummer David Kinkade on drums. Guests on the album include Dez Fafara of Coal Chamber and DevilDriver and Travis Ryan of Cattle Decapitation, whose vocals were recorded at Frick’In Studios in San Marcos, California. Ryan was brought in to record vocals in place of Adam Warren of Oceano. Some songs are set to feature a guest violinist, among other new styles that they are set to incorporate into their sound. New drummer David Kinkade has described the new album as like “Arise on crack”. On January 25 2012 the lead single, World Scum, became available as a free download for 48 hours, with a video released on February 16.

Ghost X Ship (or Ghost Ship) are a hardcore band from Syracuse, NY. The band was formed in Summer 2009.

If you thought Syracuse had quietly receded into the annals of straight edge folklore, think again. Young, straight edge bands like Ghost Ship prove that the one time Mecca of the straight edge scene is still thriving with individuals dedicated to positivity and sobriety. Heavy and lyrically uncompromising the band carries the banner that scene forerunners Earth Crisis hoisted nearly two decades ago. Fittingly, the band will include a song written by Earth Crisis frontman Karl Beuchner on their new album, as well as guest vocals by Pauly Meltdown/Blackout Rage. Using their band as a platform to discuss substance addiction, drug war culture, and the importance of commitment, Ghost Ship should be at the forefront of the straight edge scene for years to come.

Rolo Tomassi are a British mathcore band from Sheffield, England. Their name is taken from the fictional character in the film L.A. Confidential. The band released their debut album, Hysterics, on 22 September 2008 through Hassle Records.

In June 2008, Rolo Tomassi were given a spot at Download Festival. The band was featured in the February 2009 edition of Rock Sound, with singer Eva Spence appearing on the cover along with The Bronx and Fucked Up as part of the magazine’s Shred Yr Face 2 tour. The band played the SXSW festival in Austin, Texas in March 2009. On 29 June James Spence revealed that recording of the follow-up album to Hysterics would commence during the summer of 2009. The band also performed at Underage Festival and Sonisphere during August 2009. On 14 August 2009 it was announced that Rolo Tomassi will be playing the Australian music festival Soundwave in 2010 alongside bands Faith No More, Meshuggah, Alexisonfire and Jane’s Addiction. They played sideshows in Melbourne and Sydney as a support act to Jane’s Addiction. They also supported HORSE the Band on the UK leg of the 2008 Earth Tour and are featured extensively on their DVD.

Towards the end of October 2009, the band flew to LA to record their second album. Artwork for their second album is, like Hysterics, designed by Simon Moody. Recording finished on 31 October and the album is due for release in March 2010. In early February 2010, it was announced their second album would be titled Cosmology and was due for release on 19 April 2010. In interviews, the band revealed they were working with American DJ/producer Diplo. The album has since been pushed back to 24 May.[4] On release, Cosmology debuted at number 183 on the UK album chart.

The band played on the Ronnie James Dio Stage at Download Festival and played on the NME/Radio 1 tent at Reading and Leeds in August 2010. In the band’s blog in June 2010 it was written that there may eventually be a Discography styled release in the future which will allows people to hear all of the bands material released before the Rolo Tomassi EP. On 7 August 2010 they played at the Hevy Music Festival near Folkestone, England. Throughout October and November 2010 Rolo Tomassi supported The Dillinger Escape Plan on their UK tour. On 19 December 2010, they were to play a free gig at London’s Bloomsbury Ballroom, the tickets were won through Rolo Tomassi’s website. This was to be filmed to be released as part of a documentry for the band due in 2011. However, the show was cancelled due to the ill health of Eva Spence and so a new UK Tour had been announced for May.

On 18 april 2011, Rolo Tomassi released “Eternal Youth” which is an anthology of rare and non-album material including acoustic versions, remixes of their own work by various artists and a cover of Throats. Eternal Youth was released on Destination Moon records; Rolo Tomassi’s newly formed own record label. This release was accompanied by a short list of tour dates across the UK in may 2011, these dates were confirmed to be the only tour date Rolo Tomassi would do in 2011. On 8 July 2011, Rolo Tomassi headlined the Red Bull Bedroom Jam Stage at Sonisphere. Rolo Tomassi has expressed interest in working with Anthony Gonzalez or Kurt Ballou respectively of M83 and Converge as producers for the third album. As of July James Spence has stated that the third album has not progressed far enough for them to search for producers. James Spence also has stated that they, as of July have at least two songs created, with a lyrical concept that sufaces as focuses on self reflection.

Urban Dance Squad was a Dutch rap rock band formed after what was originally intended as a one-time jam-session at a festival in Utrecht on December 20, 1986. Band members were rapper Rudeboy Remmington (Patrick Tilon), guitarist Tres Manos (René van Barneveld), bassist Silly Sil (Silvano Matadin), drummer Magic Stick (Michel Schoots) and DJ DNA (DoNotAsk) (Arjen de Vreede). The band’s music is described as a blend of genres, including funk, soul, heavy metal, hip hop, reggae, jazz and ska and is often compared to that of Rage Against the Machine, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Fishbone. They are widely known for their hit single “Deeper Shade Of Soul”, which charted at number 21 in the United States on Billboard Hot 100.

In the middle of the band’s career, to capitalize on the success of grunge and alternative rock, Urban Dance Squad released Persona Non Grata in January 1994. All of the tracks feature heavy use of distortion and guitar. In particular, the singles “No Honestly” and “Candy Strip Exp.” were released. The latter single features a radio edit that cuts most of the pre-song noise.

Artantica saw release in 1999, and was a return to the band’s hip-hop roots, and received critical acclaim.

Symptoms + Cures is the fourth studio album by Canadian hardcore punk band Comeback Kid. It was released on August 31, 2010. It’s the band’s first album released through Distort Entertainment after their previous record label Smallman Records went out of business. It’s also distributed in the US through Vagrant Records. Symptoms + Cures was recorded with Eric Ratz and Kenny Luong, both of which have previously worked with the Canadian punk bands Cancer Bats and Billy Talent.

The release is the second studio album to feature Andrew Neufeld as a vocalist after the 2007 album, Broadcasting…. Neufeld previously played guitar for Comeback Kid and only began to sing for the band after the former vocalist Scott Wade left in 2006. Drummer Kyle Profeta commented on Comeback Kid’s second album working with Neufeld as a vocalist, “we have really found our sound with him and we are all really excited about it.”

<fb:like href='http://www.andrewchemister.co.uk/blog/lionheart-brothers-keeper.html' send='false' layout='standard' show_faces='true' width='450' height='65' action='recommend' colorscheme='light' font='lucida+grande'></fb:like>

“A lot of bands today don’t sing about the struggle, about hardships but that was always hardcore to me.” Rob Watson who delivers violently passionate vocals and lyrics for Bay Area based group, Lionheart speaks on the band’s upcoming album. “Built On Struggle is really the theme of a lot of my songs, about my personal demons. It’s about being a Lionheart to go through serious shit and being able to get up and walk away from it.” Set to intensely furious hardcore with weight of downtuned metallic guitars, Built To Struggle is the one of the most introspective albums to set the pit off with. One of the most personal songs on the album is Brother’s Keeper which features Bruce LaPage (original vocalist of 100 Demons) and guitar solo from Dave Nassie (Suicidal Tendencies/Bleeding Through). “The song is about my brother who is going through issues including substance abuse and incarceration and my support for him. We play that song live now and I talk about my inspiration for the song and it’s amazing how many people come up to me after the show with similar stories of supporting someone in their family with similar issues.”

An all star affair this is the band’s second album and features appearances from such high powered friends as those mentioned above and Brandan Schieppati (Bleeding Through), Lord Ezec (Skarhead, Icepick) and Karl Buechner (Earth Crisis). Watson says “We’ve become friends with everyone on this album by being on tour constantly over the past few years. These were people who inspired us and who also gave their all into their appearances on the album.” Hailing from the Bay Area of California, Lionheart apart from Watson is also made up of Jay Scott (drums), Travis Pacheco (bass), Evan Krejci (guitar) and Rob Mccarthy guitar. In 2007 the band released their debut album The Will To Survive in 2007. The album was Initially released on Mike Hood of legendary West Coast hardcore band, The Hoods own West Coast Worldwide label. Selling through it’s initial pressing the album was quickly picked up by Jamey Jasta of Hatebreed who re-released it on Stillborn Records.

From that time until now Lionheart has racked up an impressive amount of shows in this country and Europe touring an average of ten months a year. Some of their touring partners have included Skarhead, Bulldoze Sworn Enemy, Freya, Agnostic Front, Walls Of Jericho, H20, Thick As Blood, For The Fallen Dreams, Living Sacrifice, War Of Ages, Shai Hulud and Donnybrook. Currently Lionheart has just wrapped up a stint supporting NYHC heroes Madball. Watson says of the experience “Touring with Madball is unreal, to share the stage with a band that had such an impact on my life is amazing. The other night Freddy (Madball) was wearing a Lionheart shirt on stage. I had to get a picture to make sure it was real.” This January the band will join Terror and First Blood for a European run with more U.S. dates to follow.

“Take My Scars” is a single by American heavy metal band Machine Head. There are two different versions of the single. The title track is taken from the 1997 album The More Things Change…. The song was featured in the film Faust: Love of the Damned. It is the sixth track featured on the band’s live album Hellalive.

The More Things Change… is the second album by Machine Head. The album is the last release featuring the original lead guitarist Logan Mader and the first album to feature current drummer Dave McClain.

The album title alludes to the first part of the phrase: “The more things change, the more they stay the same”. In the song “Struck a Nerve”, the same phrase is mentioned during the chorus.

Worship Music is the tenth studio album by American heavy metal band Anthrax. It is their first album of original material since 2003′s We’ve Come for You All and the first to feature Joey Belladonna on vocals since 1990′s Persistence of Time. The album was released on September 12 internationally, September 13 in the U.S., and was released in Europe on October 23, 2011.

The album was initially recorded and finished with a release set for May 2009, and was to feature Dan Nelson on vocals. However, after developments made later on in the year, he was no longer a member of the band, and when asked what would happen to the completed studio album Worship Music, featuring his vocals, guitarist Scott Ian said: “Until we have a new singer, I can’t tell you what will happen to the record. We’ll probably change a few things on it, including the vocals. However, nothing’s been decided. Expect that the release date will go back, possibly to next year.”

It was assumed that John Bush was going to record new vocals for the album due to his reunion with the band, however this ultimately did not happen. In an interview with metalsucks.net John Bush said: “As of now we’re trying to figure out a way to see if we can re-record some of the songs that the band had already recorded. We’re just trying to iron out some of the legalities on it. That’s where we are at today.”

When asked if he would be re-recording some of Dan Nelson’s vocals he stated “That is what they want to do, and it’s been a conflict for me, to be quite frank, simply because I kind of felt like I wasn’t part of the creation of it. On all the other Anthrax records, I was part of it when it happened. I just wasn’t involved in this, and it’s something that they’ve already actually completed. I haven’t disregarded it completely, and I know it’s important to them. I realize they made this record and they’re kind of sitting on it. They want to put some of it out, if not everything… at least a single, and we’ve talked about an EP. We’re still trying to figure out if we can do that, especially in conjunction with these shows in June. We’ve just got to kind of iron out some specifics. That’s where we’re at today, March 15, 2010.”

Bush decided that he did not want to recommit to Anthrax full time again and left the group.[citation needed] As a result, the band decided to reunite with Joey Belladonna. Following several shows during the summer and fall of 2010, including several featuring the Big Four of thrash metal, the band returned to the studio. Some of the completed songs were left as is, adding Belladonna’s vocals, while others were rewritten and some entirely new songs were written with Belladonna.

Although Scott Ian was quoted in an interview as saying that the album’s name could be changed, this turned out not to be the case.[9] On October 8, 2010, at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, Anthrax debuted the song “Fight ‘Em ‘Til You Can’t”. It was at this point that Ian said in an interview that fans should expect the new record in late 2011. Ian reported, on December 8, 2010, that the band had almost completed their new album. He stated “We’re almost ready to go, eight things are recorded and we’ve only got to go back and re-record two or three things. And Joey’s singing on all of it.” A related posting on Noisecreep indicated that Worship Music had been shelved until Belladonna completed new vocal tracks.

On April 29, 2011, the band officially finished recording Worship Music, and called it “The Most Emotional Album”. On June 24, 2011 Anthrax released the song “Fight ‘Em ‘Til You Can’t”. It was released as a free download on anthrax.com as a way of saying “thank you” to fans’ loyalty in waiting in anticipation for the album. On June 27, 2011, Scott Ian announced via Twitter that the band had started the mastering process for Worship Music. Then, on July 12, 2011 the cover art of the album was released.
